One reader thinks I went overboard with this one.
I happen to respect that reader very much and I will agree that my message was hard-hitting; it may even have been [a little] on-the-nose, but the message is important and if it gets folks thinking, then my job is done.
Mostly, I wanted to examine how some – not all – but some (maybe even many) EMS agencies grow and morph into something different than initially intended; something different from what they think they are.
How does it happen? Who is responsible? And, if we don’t like it, what can be done?
